My favorite overall artwork was my angel artwork based off of a little angel I was given. This angel was given when my grandma passed away and it reminds me of her when I look at it. I really like how my shading looks since it was more difficult with white charcoal. An artwork I would like to redo would probably be the most recent one. I think I could have spent more time working on each thing instead of just drawing them out. I think it could have had better improvements but I don't hate it. Some things I have learned in art that can help in life / other classes would be working productively, the studio habits and also being able to talk to others and get feedback. Working productively will help in future classes when you aren't given enough time or given too much work, it will help procrastination. The studio habits help for example in bio, you can can observe things in the microscope, make observations and be able to research important things. Observing is also used in many real life things such as cooking or driving. Art helps you get a better understanding of what helps make up art or the real world. Art can change your mind about things anyday. Feedback is good for working with others and being able to change what could be fixed. One thing I wish we could have done it clay because I really enjoy it.

My artwork looks like a bunch of things I like, mixed in with lots of words I like. I used pencils to draw all of the objects, I might end up adding a little more color but I'm not too sure. I don't think I have a name for my artwork, besides things I like. The things most obvious in my artwork are things that I like. This art shows the things that make me and make me happy. My artwork is made from paper, pencils and maybe colored pencils. Some techniques I used were a tad bit of shading, observing objects and looking up picture ideas. I am what inspired my artwork. My artwork is based off me and things about me. This artwork shows my emotions a little bit. The words I added into my artwork are representing my feelings, thoughts and things I like. I tried showing how I like to be creative, fun and loving. Some of my goals are to become even more creative and try new media because of me usually sticking to pencil. This piece did not help me with reaching my goal, although I loved it, I really think I should try using new techniques and different types of media. I learned that something are definitely more difficult to draw than others. This piece turned out very similar to how I would like and I am happy with the results.
I plan on doing a self portrait that looks like me. I am not quite sure what I want it to exactly look like but I have a few ideas. I really like Frank Big Bear's work. I like how he does collages of little things that make a giant picture or just in general show things you like. I probably will go with his type of artwork. I will be understanding art worlds while working on my final artwork. I will be looking behind the history of his work and also watching videos / looking at his artworks. I will also be observing his artworks to make one of my own. I will include family, thoughts, abilities, and style mainly. These are my plans for my final artwork.
I have been working on collage using old papers, pop can tops, qtips, beads and other garbage to make a seascape. I used stretch and explore to find new objects to use that I can work with. I also did develop craft to help use new materials. I wanted to make a seascape but I plan on doing a makeup collage for my final.
We have been working on landscape artworks these past couple weeks. My artwork is a cabin with two chairs on a beach. There is a sunset in the background that has warm colors. There are waves that look like they are getting washed up by shore. I also included clouds and as much detail as possible. I created my artwork using a canvas, acrylics paints and water. The idea behind my artwork is just something I thought of in my head. I love beaches and cabins, I also love being warm and this artwork makes me feel warm. The goals for my artwork were to make it look as realistic as possible. I think overall my artwork looks pretty fine. I am happy but also could have done a little more improvements with my blending and reflection. Recently I have been working on my landscape artwork! As shown in the pictures so far I have done the whole background and foreground, all I need to do next is add details. I made sure to observe to see what I needed to work on in my piece, I have to focus on what colors go where and how to show reflection. I also used stretch and explore to try new things. I have done a landscape artwork previously at my house but never with a building. I wanted to add a building to make it look like a little cabin on a beach. I made sure to paint my background sky first which looks gradient, then I added the water, and then the sand. After my whole background was done i’ve been working on my little cabin and adding more precise details!! I’m excited for the outcome:) Painting Boot CampThe past couple of weeks we have been working on painting boot camp. During this time we spent time working with paints and also watercolors. We did color wheels, brush strokes and also worked on values. I can observe on what colors I need to mix for which colors. I also observed what I needed to do for each color and where it is placed on the wheel or chart. I also reflected on what Mrs. Underhill had to say. I did the wrong color scheme and she told me that so I reflected on what I needed to do any let it dry. Then I painted over and fixed it. I also did some water colors but I didn't complete the entire slides for watercolor. I did test out watercolors and tried it on paper, just no picture. The only picture I have was a little bit on brush strokes. I can put a picture in when I get to it. Landscape IdeasI have an idea for my artwork. It is a beach house on a beach at night. I plan on sticking with this idea because I have made multiple sketches for this. I plan on using paints over watercolor this time around: Dan Bruggeman in my opinion, is somewhat original. I do not think his artworks are new things but I do think they look different from most artists. Some differences I have seen were that he does a really large background taking up the majority of the space. He makes the scene look really small and the background look like the largest part of the picture. He also is very very detailed with all the little buildings and uses a magnifying glass to paint. He goes around and find pictures of man made things that were built and references off of the pictures. My drawing shows man made and nature worlds colliding the skiing/tubing area has been places over what could have been trees, water, room for animal habitats. I don't know, and maybe there was nothing in this spot at all. I think my place has been enhanced. I do not believe that it was placed over anything, maybe a couple trees which could have been saved but there are mountains near so It would not be affecting the mountains. My artwork is also my own but I based it off of a skiing and tubing hill I have been too with really big hills. My artwork looks like an angel with wings holding a bird. She has brown hair, a cream/light brown colored dress on with lots of swirl and plant details. She has a light face and the bird she is carrying is white. The angel is made out of some sort of harder material. The tile of my artwork is Grandma. Some elements that are obvious are that her hair is the darkest thing in the figure and she has many details on her wings and dress. My artwork is made from white charcoal and a little bit of black charcoal. I drew on black paper which obviously makes the white charcoal pop. I also used eraser to erase my mistakes. I did a couple tests on other pieces of black paper just to check it out. I finally got a good size and started good shading. Then I was able to start my final artwork. The inspiration for my artwork was my Grandma. This artwork expresses my Grandma. She passed away a few years ago from cancer and she was very important to me. My Godmother got me the angel as a recovery gift and I cherish it. I tried to show how I was to remember my Grandma because I miss her tons. Some of my goals as an artist are to improve shading, I like shading a lot. My piece did in fact help achieve my shading goals because I feel like my artwork looks pretty good. Some things I have learned while creating my artwork are that you definitely will make mistakes. I did the mistake of wrong shading at different parts. Mrs. Underhill told me I did the wrong shading for the hair which I later realized after she did the black and white picture for me. The artwork turned out like I had thought except for the face. The face does look good just not as similar as I would like. I am actually very pleased with the final product. This piece can be a good reference for future shading, especially if it is shade on a person. Thinking drawings are sketches made before an artwork. These sketches help Wayne Thiebaud figure out interesting and dynamic compositions. Wayne Thiebaud will repeatedly go back tgo many of his subjects to explore more compositions. Thiebaud will often do trial and error to correct his work. He likes to fix his mistakes and see what will make his artwork appear better. His prep sketches help him determine was is good and bad for finalizing his artwork. Based on his tie artwork I see that the group of ties seem less detailed, colored and shaded. The tie on the right is much more detailed and realistic. I think that the reason Thiebaud did this was to show standing out. I think it has a, you don't need to be like everyone else to fit in. It seems as if all the ties are equal in the group but the tie on the right looks more advanced. This could show how you don't always have to fit in the group to stand out. It could also have a super simple meaning such as that is his favorite tie! |
